Farm to Fork Restaurant

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Farm to Fork catering and cafe opened in the Portland neighborhood on Thursday.

Once a historic firehouse, the building at 2425 Portland Avenue offers fresh food, supports local farmers and acts as a gathering place.

A group bought the firehouse from the city several years ago and invested about $200,000 in it. The founder and president, Sherry Hurley-Magnuson, has grown up cooking and says she knew this location was right as soon as she first walked in the door.

"I knew there was a need," she said. "This is the first place, building, that I've ever walked in -- and I've looked at probably 50 different locations for us to build a production kitchen and have a storefront -- this is the first place that I've walked in and I could see how it was gonna be laid out and what it was going to look like from the beginning."

Farm to Fork will be open for breakfast and lunch. The restaurant also plans to host pop-up events for Portland residents.
