LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Some new downtown Louisville apartments include price tags ringing in at more than $9,000 a month.
On Wednesday, WDRB toured the new luxury apartments at the Omni Hotel.
The hotel is divided into two parts. There are 600 hotel rooms on the lower levels and 225 apartments on the top 14 floors.
Although no one has moved in yet, 15 percent of the apartments have been leased. There are studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom options.
"Ranging in price from the mid $1,300s all the way up to $9,300, just depending on where you want to be," said Doug Taylor, Area Vice President for the Lincoln Property Company. "Our average price is mid $2,000s."
According to Lincoln Properties, two floor plans leased so quickly the company increased their rent by $100.
The penthouse is not leased yet.
"Without being able to get in and see a bunch of units, those are some pretty good numbers, so the units are moving fairly quickly," Taylor said.
Paul Franklin will be one of the first to move in in May.
"We used to live downtown, moved out to Norton Commons, and we are coming back downtown. Why wouldn’t we when this is available?" Franklin said. "If I don’t want to leave the hotel, I don’t have to."
He said the location of the Omni, the convenience and the amenities are the reasons he’s paying top dollar to live on a top floor.
Not all of the apartments are available for lease yet. They are becoming available in groups and should all be ready for lease by June.
