C-SPAN bus rolls into Louisville to teach students about government

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A famous bus rolled into Louisville Tuesday morning to showcase 25 years of reality TV -- but it's not the type you might think.

The C-SPAN network covers our government, showing what's going on on the House and Senate floor in Washington, D.C. The C-SPAN bus travels around the country as part of its classroom tour.

Today it made stops at Southern High School and duPont Manual High School.

Students climbed aboard the $1 million bus to learn more about how the network and its archives can help them learn.

"We're a window into Washington, D.C. and anything public affairs related," said Doug Hemmig, a spokesperson for the bus. "We're funded by the cable industry as a public service, so we're here to show how they can use our network in the classroom."

Louisville is one of five Kentucky cities chosen for this year's national C-SPAN classroom tour.
