BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) -- Shepherdsville Police say two people were arrested after drugs were found Saturday after a crash that shut down part of I-65 South.
According to a news release, emergency crews responded around 6:45 a.m. to I-65 South near the 112 mile marker on a report of a multi-vehicle crash. The crash forced the highway to shut down for about two hours. Only minors were reported as a result of the crash, police say.
While officials investigated, police say their attention was "drawn to the suspicious actions of two individuals involved in the collision." Police say they were also informed that the two men had been behaving strangely before first responders arrived.
With the help of a police K-9, officers found a backpack containing a large amount of cash, two rifles and close to a pound of meth in a grassy area.
Police arrested 22-year-old Brandon Cherry and 32-year-old James Cole, both of Bowling Green.
Both men are charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a defaced firearm, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
