Convicted lawyer Eric Conn says he is broke and asks for public defender

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Disbarred Kentucky attorney Eric Conn has pleaded guilty to three more charges.

As a result, he has received an additional 15 years behind bars, according to WKYT.

He will now spend a total of 27 years in prison.

Conn was on the run for six months last year after he pleaded guilty to bribing judges and doctors as part of a $550 million Social Security fraud scheme. He was sentenced in absentia and received an initial 12-year prison term.

He was captured in Honduras at a Pizza Hut restaurant last December and returned to Kentucky. Once he was back in custody, Conn shared details about his time on the run in a 42-page letter.

Conn was permanently disbarred by the Kentucky Supreme Court in February.

He is set to be formally sentenced in September.
