Brandenburg police officer resigns amid controversy

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A former Brandenburg Police officer accused of having sex with a teenage girl has taken a plea deal.

The Commonwealth's Attorney's Office says Todd Matti pleaded guilty to engaging in an unlawful transaction with a minor and accepted a two-year sentence. It's a felony.

A judge will decide if he'll serve any prison time at his sentencing on May 12 at 9am.

He won't have to register as a sex offender.

A Meade County grand jury indicted Matti in March of 2014 for sodomy. A former KSP trooper, Stratford Young, was also indicted for rape and sodomy of the same girl. Matti remains free on bond.
