Former Indiana elementary school teacher sentenced for child molestation

CORYDON, Ind. (WDRB) -- A former elementary school teacher who pleaded guilty to having sex with a student has been sentenced to a total of 90 years in prison.

On Thursday, a judge ordered 41-year-old Corey Faith to serve three consecutive sentences of 30 years each for three counts of child molesting.

Faith was a teacher at New Middletown Elementary in Corydon. In September, he pleaded guilty to three charges of child molesting in Harrison County. Under state law, he could have gotten between 20 and 50 years for each count.

Sheriff's deputies arrested Faith in March 2018, after he admitted having sex with a student on numerous occasions from 2005-2007. He had originally been charged with 36 counts.

The victim is now 26. She gave emotional testimony as part of the sentencing hearing.

She says she was 12 years old when Faith molested her in his classroom, in a locker room, at the victim's home, at his home and at his parents' home. She says Faith was a trusted family friend and babysitter, and their families even vacationed together.

Faith also admitted exchanging nude images with the girl and engaging with phone sex.

He was fired from South Harrison Community Schools after his arrest in March.
