LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was found shot to death in a west Louisville alley Thursday while children were playing nearby.
Louisville Metro Police officers found the man inside a car about 6 p.m. April 26 in an alley behind 39th Street and River Park Drive.
The shooting happened in broad daylight, as children were playing nearby.
Neighbors like Connie McFarland in the Shawnee neighborhood clearly fed up with the violence.
"They just lost a child over some nonsense," McFarland said. "Whatever it could have been it wasn't worth taking no one's life for."
LMPD spokesperson Alicia Smiley said police understand the frustration from people who live in the neighborhood.
"It's very unfortunate, and the really regrettable thing is this is an everyday occurrence for them," Smiley said. "Hopefully this is not something that we'll continue to see as a trend in the future."
Police say the victim appeared to be in his 20s, but his name won't be released until after an autopsy is complete. Investigators have not said whether the victim was the driver of the car.
Homicide detectives are searching for the gunman, but no suspect information has been released.
If anyone heard or saw anything that could help police solve this crime, they ask that you call 574-LIMPID. Callers can remain anonymous.
