Indiana political group introduces measure in response to state's Religious Freedom Restoration Act

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville couple has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $550,000.

According to a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Glenn and Karen Richardson, both 56, entered guilty pleas in court on Tuesday to a single charge of wire fraud.

Officials say the pair stole the money from the Iceland Sports Complex, located in the east part of Jefferson County, where they were employed. Authorities say the couple embezzled the funds between 2005 and 2011.

According to officials, the couple created a bank account in Karen Richardson's name, "for the purpose of diverting and concealing daily revenue from Iceland Sports Complex." The account operated under the name of "Louisville Storm."

A plea agreement states the Richardsons deposited checks made out to the Iceland Sports Complex into the account.

Officials say the pair hid the use of the money by "creating and sending revenue statements" to the complex's owners in Michigan. The statements underreported the amount of daily revenue generated by the complex. The Richardsons admitted to taking the diverted money and using it for personal reasons.

The pair are scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 6.
