LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville Metro police announced an arrest Tuesday in connection with a November shooting in the city’s Portland neighborhood.

The department's Non-Fatal Shooting Unit said Fugitive Unit detectives executed an arrest warrant and charged 41-year-old Derrick L. Miles, of Louisville, in the case.

Miles is accused in a shooting that happened Nov. 25, 2025, in the 200 block of North 17th Street. Police said a 35-year-old man was shot in the leg and taken to UofL Hospital with injuries that weren't expected to be life-threatening.

Miles is charged with first-degree assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Police said the Non-Fatal Shooting Unit remains the lead investigative unit and the case remains active.
