LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man was arrested on a murder warrant Monday in connection to the death of a 61-year-old woman as he was arriving to court in another case.

Timothy Garmany, 35, was indicted on Nov. 20 by a Jefferson County grand jury on charges of murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

Louisville Metro Police arrested Garmany as he showed up for a district court appearance in another case, department spokesperson Aaron Ellis said in a statement.

According to court documents, Garmany was in court to be arraigned for flagrant non-support and for a hearing on a drug charge, which was dismissed without prejudice following the indictment.

The fatal shooting happened in the 400 block of South Eighth Street at the Avenue Plaza Apartments around 1:30 a.m. Aug. 19.

Melinda Doolin, 61, was found dead from a gunshot wound, police said at the time.

Garmany's relationship, if any, to Doolin are unknown.

A man was also found at the apartment with a stab wound. But it's unclear whether Garmany faces charges in relation to the stabbing.
