Man facing drug trafficking charges dies after apparent suicide in Louisville Metro Corrections

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – An inmate at Louisville Metro Correction is dead after officials say he committed suicide while he was in the process of being booked into jail.

According to Metro Corrections Assistant Director Steve Durham, 33-year-old Larry Huddleston, was arrested July 13 on felony charges of trafficking in a controlled substance and and possession of marijuana. Durham says he was in a single cell on the booking floor when he hanged himself.

Durham says Huddleston "apparently [hanged] himself with his shoe lace."  Durham said.

Durham says staff members performed CPR before Huddleston was taken by ambulance to University Hospital. He was pronounced dead around 10 p.m.
