POLICE: Hardin Co. woman drove car into ditch on purpose -- with 4 kids inside

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Elizabethtown woman was arrested after police say she intentionally crashed her car into a ditch while four juveniles were inside the vehicle.

According to an arrest report, the incident took place just before 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, on Valley Creek Road, in Elizabethtown.

Police say 29-year-old Jacqueline Shain admitted to intentionally driving her vehicle into a ditch in front of her home, "to hide previous hit-and-run damage."

Four children, all under the age of 8, were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, according to police. By the time police arrived, they were all outside of the vehicle, and one of them was bleeding from his head.

Police say that boy hit his head on the windshield during the crash.

When police found Shain at the scene of the crash, she was in "an abnormal state," according to the arrest report.

Shain was arrested and charged with four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. She is currently being held in the Hardin County Detention Center.

A mugshot for Shain was not available at the time of this writing.
