BORDEN, Ind. (WDRB) -- Cindy Embry has always loved her home tucked off Highway 60 on Lake Michelle in Borden.
"We do have a really nice neighborhood," she said.
But the backdrop of her oasis also served as a very real nightmare for one little girl, who's now an adult.
"She came forward with investigators after receiving some different counseling and felt like she needed to let someone know about this," said Clark County Sheriff Jamey Noel.
From the age of 6 to 17, she said she was molested by a member of her own family, 72-year-old James Barrient.
Investigators believe it happened in two homes: one on Bay View Drive and another on Valley Vista Drive.
"I raised my three children here: two daughters and my son. And my two little granddaughters hang around here with me," Embry said. "It's very upsetting. He's a sick person."
Embry watched as authorities flooded her street and arrested Barrient. Investigators seized computers and hard drives with over 300 explicit pictures.
"It showed the victim and the suspect in different acts," Noel said. "The pictures are pretty horrific."
Barrient was thrown in jail, where he'll presumably wait for his day in court.
While he does, Embry said she's seen a lot of kids around the two homes and worries the investigation won't stop with Barrient's relative. It sounds like she could be onto something.
"There's a chance that this could lead into additional victims," Noel said.
On the heels of this alleged molestation coming to light, Noel is asking all parents to talk to their kids.
"From preschool age all the way up, remind them that it's never OK for anyone to touch them in their private areas," he said. "And if they do, to make sure to contact law enforcement or say something to an adult."
It's the only way, Noel said, to ensure the innocence of a child remains intact.
Barrient is charged with child molestation, child seduction and possession of child porn.
