Dozens attend vigil held for Jeffersonville gas station owner shot and killed during robbery

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- As police search for his killer, family and friends of a slain gas station owner gathered Saturday for a vigil.

Nearly 100 people showed up with flowers, candles and balloons to honor 49-year-old Praful Patel.

Patel was shot and killed during a robbery at his Stop & Go on Allison Lane in Jeffersonville Thursday night.

His family is thankful for the community's outpouring of support.

"This was just senseless. But the support that the community has shown really means a lot at a time like this," Patel's son, Shyam, said.

Police are looking for a light-skilled male who was seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt and dark sweatpants.

Police are looking for the man seen in this photo entering the store Thursday night.

If you have any information about the suspect, call Jeffersonville Police.
