LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- No injuries have been reported after a fire destroyed a home in the Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood early Tuesday.
The fire started at a home in the 6600 block of Sylvania Road sometime around 6 a.m. on April 17. The home was fully engulfed by the time firefighters arrived.
It took about 40 minutes to bring the fire under control.
We spoke with the homeowner, Richard Epperson, who says he was with his service dog taking care of a nearby neighbor, and no one else was inside the home.
Epperson returned to find his home destroyed.
"I mean you don't expect something like this to happen," Epperson said. "You remodel your house and you know about five or six months later it burns and there's nothing left. Nothing left."
Epperson says the home has been in his family for several years, and he lost everything in the fire. But he's thankful no one was hurt.
The fire also caused minor damage to a home next door.
Crews were still on the scene hours after the fire, spraying foam on the debris to make sure no hot spots flare up.

At this time, firefighters do not know the origin of the fire or how it started.
The home appears to be a total loss.
