Teresa Morgan named new superintendent for Hardin County Schools

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Hardin County Board of Education has voted to name Teresa "Terrie" Morgan as the district’s new superintendent.

She will replace Nannette Johnston, the Hardin County Schools superintendent for the last ten years, when Mrs. Johnston retires at the end of June.

Mrs. Morgan is currently the Director of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction for Hardin County Schools. She started her educational career in 1989 as a special education teacher at Vine Grove Elementary School. She became an intermediate grades teacher before she left VGES for a primary grades teaching position at Woodland Elementary School in 1997. In August of 2000, she was asked to be the school’s assistant principal. Three years later, she became the principal at Woodland and served in that capacity for eight years. She moved to her current position in October 2011.

"I am honored that the Board of Education has asked me to be our district’s next superintendent,” Morgan said. “Following Mrs. Johnston will not be an easy task. She has been a tremendous leader for our entire district for the last ten years. Her 33 years of dedication, student-centered leadership and professionalism are unparallelled. I look forward to working with her very closely during the next three months."

“Mrs. Morgan will be a fantastic superintendent for Hardin County Schools,” Hardin County Board of Education Charlie Wise said. “She is a student-centered leader that is passionate about growth for our district. She has proven time and time again that her strategies are successful and they help our staff move students in the right direction.”

Mrs. Morgan is a 1989 graduate of Brescia College. She earned her Master’s of Education Degree from Western Kentucky University in 1994. She obtained her Principal Certification in 1997 and her Superintendent Certification in 2014 from WKU.

“Terrie is well-respected among our principals, teachers, staff members and the parents with whom she has worked,” Wise added. “She has worked in every school in our district and has a deep understanding of our needs and direction. She has solid and realistic plans to continue our momentum and make Hardin County Schools an even greater place to learn, work and grow.”

“Each decision I make begins with thoughts about the impact on students,” Morgan said. “I hope our district, staff, community, parents and most importantly - our students – realize that I will work tirelessly to ensure students receive a quality education in a respectful, caring and loving environment.”

Mrs. Morgan is married to C. H. Morgan and has three children – Alexander (17), Christopher (11) and Nathaniel (10). All three children attend Hardin County Schools.
