LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Hillview Police detective accused of helping cover up an alleged rape has retired.
The Hillview Police Department released a statement Thursday night on Det. John Nissen, saying his actions were "very disturbing" and "brought discredit upon the agency."
A woman claimed Pioneer Village Police Chief D.J. Reynolds raped her in September 2017. Reynolds has denied it and hasn't been charged.
Nissen was indicted in May for official misconduct and theft.
Hillview Police also apologized for Nissen's behavior in its statement and said the detective retired as of July 1. Below is the statement:
