LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- MSD has warned about Louisville's crumbling infrastructure for months, and Thursday offered another unfortunate example.
Hundreds of dead fish and trash were discovered in the South Fork of Beargrass Creek near Trevilian Way and Joe Creason Park. MSD located a leaking sewer line about a half mile upstream from the dead fish.
"It does have a very pungent ... It's not a good odor, I'll tell you that," said Paul Heintzman, who was running through Joe Creason Park on Thursday.
MSD has diverted the sewer flow to other pipes so the damaged pipe can be emptied and repaired. The company announced Thursday that it's getting $3 million from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers to look into Louisville's aging infrastructure. The study is expected to take about 18 months.
