It's an American Idol #TBT featuring our own Samantha Chatman

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Before she was chasing down business stories on WDRB News at 4pm, Samantha Chatman was chasing down her dream of making it big as a singer.

Samantha traveled to Louisville from her hometown of Chicago to audition for Season 8. The auditions were held in Freedom Hall in the summer of 2008.

Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson were all still judges that season.

Samantha sang "You Can't Hurry Love" by Diana Ross.

As you can see, she did so well that she was given a golden ticket, but that wasn't enough to get before the big names.

"Most people don't know this but there are several rounds before you get to the TV judges. There's not enough time to air every single round.  I made it just before meeting Simon, Randy, Paula round," Samantha said.

That means she made it through three rounds.

Samantha might not have made it to the finals but she did make it back to Louisville to join the news team at WDRB.

We're happy to have her!
