Japanese engineer creates ASIMO, Honda's first humanoid robot

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A robot that can wake you up, make you a drink, and serve you breakfast?

That reality might be closer than you think. Satoshi Shigemi, the Senior Engineer and Project Leader of Honda's ASIMO project in Japan, has created Honda's first humanoid robot: ASIMO. But don't be expecting breakfast quite yet. The realistic android costs $1 million.

The professor hopes that this can change. The professor's mission is to make the robot both reliable and affordable.

And ASIMO is not the only android being developed in Japan. At the Tokyo Technology Museum, you can find robots like an android newscaster -- but for now, the robot still requires a person at the controls.
