LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two YMCA locations in the Louisville area are getting new playgrounds.
Workers and volunteers began building the new playground at the Southwest YMCA on Sunday. That location, along with the Clark County YMCA, received a grant from the Carter's Kids program to help build the new playgrounds.
When it's all said and done, the playground will be a good place for children to get their exercise.
"We wanted it to be both a fun and physically challenging playground that challenges kids to really kind of work as they play," said Ronnie McKiernan, executive director of the Southwest YMCA. "So there will be a lot of climbing elements, some slides and that sort of thing. But it's going to be a very physical playground, so we are excited about that."
The playgrounds will be open Tuesday.
