LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Fire Department unveiled new fire trucks on Monday morning.
Two new trucks, Engine 20 and Quint 9, were purchased to modernize Louisville's Fire Department. They will replace trucks that have been in use for nearly 25 years.
The new trucks have higher water pumping capacity, higher weight capacity and state of the art safety systems.
"I want to make sure that our community knows that obviously public safety is the number one area that we have to invest in our budget and these purchases reflect a commitment from Chief Frederick, Chief Doug Hamilton (and) myself," said Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer.
The fire department decided to show off the new trucks at the Louisville Zoo, because it's one of the places where crews will respond.
