Louisville man arrested for three murders, including two teens found in Shawnee neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --  Louisville Metro Police have made an arrest after two teens were found murdered in the Shawnee neighborhood Sunday afternoon.

In all 25-year-old Brice Rhodes is facing three counts of murder, two counts of assault, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse. Rhodes is charged in connection with the deaths of 14-year-old Larry Ordway and 16-year-old Maurice "Reece" Gordon.

Homicide detectives say they've also taken a juvenile co-defendant into custody.

According to the arrest report, Rhodes stabbed Ordway and Gordon and dumped their bodies behind an abandoned home on River Park Drive. The bodies were then set on fire.

The boy's mother, Elizabeth Wren, tells WDRB, her sons were eighth graders at Olmsted Academy North.

Homicide detectives say Rhodes was likely a friend of the family.

Rhodes is also charged with murder from a shooting earlier this month on South 41st Street. Investigators say 40-year-old Christopher Jones was shot in the chest on May 4. He died at the hospital several hours later.

Wren says her sons were targeted because of something they witnessed.

A balloon release and vigil is planned at Wyandotte Park at 6 p.m. Wednesday to honor Ordway and Gordon. Community activist Christopher 2X said the boys use to go to that park often.
