Mother of 6 shot in Louisville last week has died

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – A mother of six shot Wednesday night in Louisville has died from her injuries, relatives confirmed Sunday.

Relatives say Christina Kustes-Eisner, a 35-year-old stay-at-home mother, was taken off life-support on Sunday.

“She’s a great mom. That’s all she ever wanted to be was a mom,” said Christina's uncle, who asked to conceal his identity for his own safety.

As LMPD worked three other homicides around the city on Wednesday night, officers were called to Cleo Avenue where Christina and a man were shot.

While police have not released specific details, Christina's family says she and her husband, Jeff Eisner, were driving home, and when they turned the corner onto their street, they were hit with bullets.

The family says Jeff is expected to survive after he was shot in the back. Christina was hit in the head.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office says Eisner officially died of multiple gunshot wounds. She died at University Hospital.

“I’ve been crying every day. I just can’t believe it. I’m still in shock. I just don’t know why this could happen,” the Christina's uncle said. “We had so many prayers, and we were hoping and praying so hard, so we were going for that miracle. It just wasn’t there.”

A Facebook group was created to allow friends and family to share stories about Christina and pray for her recovery. Her family says they are forever grateful for the support.

“I want to thank all of the people who helped … All the doctors and all the prayers we got off of Facebook. There’s thousands of people that prayed for her,” the Christina's uncle said. “We need more love in this world. This is a good example of why we need more love in this world.”

On Sunday night, LMPD confirmed Christina had died and that her death was now considered a murder. No arrests have been made.
