LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- LMPD is investigating after one person was killed and two others were hurt in a shooting near Hikes Lane and Taylorsville Road.
The shooting was reported at 8:39 p.m. Friday in the 3600 block of Stanton Boulevard and Noe Way, which is between Louisville's Bon Air neighborhood and Hikes Point.
Two men, believed to be in their 20s, were found inside a vehicle at the scene with gunshot wounds, according to LMPD spokesperson Alicia Smiley said.
Police say both victims were taken to the hospital, where one was admitted in "serious condition" and later died.
Authorities say shots were fired at the victims by someone else in another vehicle. There's no info on a suspect nor the vehicle where the shots came from.
"Within five minutes or so we had 15 cops and three ambulances in this area between Noe Way and here," said Susan Powell, who was out with her dog when she heard the shots. Powell went to call 911 when she saw a man approach her house on the sidewalk saying he had been shot. He collapsed in her yard.
Officials say a 10-year-old victim was taken to a hospital after being grazed by a bullet but LMPD says the injury is "very very minor." The child was in another car, that was not related to the two other vehicles involved in the shooting.
The condition of the other victim is not known.
"[The neighborhood] has gotten more dangerous, you know. It’s just not like what it used to be when I was growing up," said Powell, who has lived in the area for more than 25 years.
Police don't believe either of the victims to be the shooter, Smiley said. Authorities also say they don't think the two men who were shot lived in the area.
LMPD is looking at surveillance video from cameras at homes and businesses in the area.
There have been no arrests and police do not yet have any suspects.
