New Albany hoping to turn old rail lines into walking and biking trails

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) -- New Albany is still working to acquire miles of old rails to be converted into trails.

The Surface Transportation Board and CSX extended the deadline for the city to acquire the rails. The 63-mile rail line would be transformed into a walking and bike trail from New Albany to Bedford.

Mayor Jeff Gahan said the trails would be the future north-south connection to the Ohio River Greenway Project.
