LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new restaurant along River Road has been years in the making for those with the Falls City Hospitality Group, which is known for Doc Crow’s in downtown Louisville.
Officials previously announced a restaurant would be built behind the River Park Place apartments and, now, we’re learning more about what you can expect to see.
The restaurant will be called the JQ Public House and is expected to open in late Spring 2016. It will feature a bar with 120 beers on tap, as well an outdoor patio overlooking the nearby marina.
It's not the only space that Managing Partner, Brett Davis, says he's looking forward to. They'll also be restoring the historic Padgett House nearby as well as a rental space for weddings and private events.
“We envision people getting married there and coming up for a reception here,” said Brett Davis.
The JQ Public House will include Americana food like hamburgers, fried chicken, lobster rolls and more.
“Basically, it spurred from our love of that food back in the 1970's when you traveled and pulled off the highway and into these diners where they made everything from scratch,” said Davis.
This is the second Louisville restaurant in the works for this group. They started demolition on parts of the old Waterfront Park Tumbleweed location, which will be transformed into Doc’s Cantina -- a Mexican comfort food restaurant expected to open by the end of 2015.
“We've blown out some walls, where the kitchen was is completely destroyed because we're moving the kitchen toward River Road and open up that wall against the river and open up the view to the river so every seat has a view,” said Davis.
Davis says it's an exciting time for the Falls City Hospitality Group, who is also working on a Doc Crow's in Cincinnati.
