LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Brick by brick, the rest of the old Water Company Building is coming down.
Demolition began in October to make room for the new Omni Hotel, but part of the building was saved to be preserved.
The front of the building and side walls are being put into storage at Seventh Street and Industry Road.
Preservation officials say the location is safe, with security cameras.
In the next 12 to 18 months, they plan to study possible uses for the building's facade.
"We'll be putting out -- hopefully out of that group -- requests for proposals to seek ways of reusing this facade so it will have another life again," Metro Historic Preservation Officer Cynthia Johnson said.
Officials are taking photos and scanning the parts of the building that are being preserved.
They say it will take about three weeks to finish the process of taking it apart.
