LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Pet owners are expected to spend more than ever on their furry friends this Valentine's Day.
According to the National Retail Foundation, 27 percent of people said they will buy Valentine's Day gifts for their pets, which is a 17% increase since 2010.
The study says $1.7 billion will be spent on pets this year on Feb. 14. Valentine's Day spending is expected to hit a record high of more than $27 billion this year.
