POLICE: Hopkinsville man drives to police station and turns himself in for DUI

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police in Hopkinsville, Kentucky say a drunk driver didn't wait to get picked up by police. He drove to the police station and turned himself in.

It happened Wednesday night at the Hopkinsville Police post.

According to an arrest citation, 26-year-old Christopher Stewart pulled into the "do not enter" side of the Hopkinsville Police post, slammed on his brakes and almost collided with a police vehicle.

Police say Stewart then walked up to an officer, leaned against the officer's vehicle and said, "I'm ready to go to jail for DUI. Arrest me." He allegedly admitted to the officer that he had drank "a pint."

While returning to his own vehicle to get his license, police saw Stewart grab a closed bottle of fuel injector cleaning fluid, "attempting to drink it." Police allegedly had to physically restrain Stewart to keep in from drinking it.

Police say Stewart smashed his head against the door of the police patrol vehicle and was forced to stop.

He was arrested for DUI.
