LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is in serious trouble after police say he raped and sodomized a woman who was just trying to lend a helping hand.
According to an arrest report, the incident took place near the corner of S. 1st St. and E. Oak St.
Police say 28-year-old William Swartwood approached a woman at that location, asking permission to use her phone to call his mother, who he claimed had locked him out of her home nearby.
Swartwood then allegedly asked the woman to follow him to the side of the home, to see if his mother was awake.
At that point, police say the night took a horrific turn.
Police say Swartwood grabbed the woman by her hair and dragged her up three flights of stairs to a landing, where he raped and sodomized her, punching her several times.
The woman was eventually able to kick Swartwood and run away, according to the arrest report.
A witness saw the assault and witnessed the woman, running away nude, according to police.
Swartwood was arrested just after 4:30 Friday morning and charged with first degree rape and sodomy.
