LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- $20 bills, $100 bills and 42 pounds of marijuana -- police say that's what they discovered when a vehicle flipped late Saturday night.
It happened on Strawberry Lane, near Wellington Avenue, shortly after midnight.
Police say shortly before 11 p.m., a 2006 black Infiniti sped by at 100 mph.
"At that rate of speed, I knew the road conditions wouldn't allow the car to maneuver the turns on Strawberry Lane," an officer wrote in an arrest report. "I followed and found the car upside down."
That's not all the officer reported finding. After approaching the vehicle, he allegedly saw $20 and $100 bills in and around the car, and smelled the "strong odor of marijuana."
The driver had left the scene, according to the arrest report.
As police were canvassing the area, searching for the driver, officers allegedly discovered two duffel bags inside the car, containing roughly 42 pounds of marijuana.
Police say they found 28-year-old Michael Richard hiding by a fence line nearby. He was injured and allegedly told police the car was not his, and he had been hit by another vehicle.
Richard was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana and leaving the scene of an accident.
