Ramp reopens after semi carrying glue overturns

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A busy interstate interchange in downtown Louisville has reopened after a sticky mess had to be cleaned up on Monday.

A semi carrying a 250 gallon drum of glue overturned on the ramp to southbound Interstate 65 from southbound Interstate 71 around 2:45 p.m. The glue spilled all across the highway.

The trick wasn't flipping the truck back over. It was getting the spilled glue off the road. Once some was gone, more kept coming pouring out. Crews used heated pressure washers to remove the mess.

The one thing that was able to un-stick traffic was crews were able to divert most of it to the I-64 West ramp before many cars got backed up.

Now crews have to determine if the ramp suffered any damage. We're told the glue is water soluble so it doesn't pose an environmental hazard.

The ramp reopened about 1 a.m. Tuesday.
