LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - The Kentucky Kernel, the student newspaper at the University of Kentucky, has started a memorial fund to remember the life of Jonathan Krueger.
Krueger, 22, was shot and killed early Friday morning during a robbery while walking with another person near the Lexington campus.
Officers arrested Justin Smith, 18, and Efrain Diaz, 20, and charged them murder, robbery as well as other charges.
Krueger, who is from Perrysburg, Ohio, was a communications major and the photo editor of the Kernel.
Once $10,000 is raised, an annual endowed scholarship in Krueger's name will be awarded by the Kernel Press Inc. to a promising Kernel photographer.
