St. Matthews Police arrest driver after woman injured in hit and run

ST. MATTHEWS, Ky. (WDRB) -- St. Matthews Police have arrested the driver who left the scene of a hit and run accident early Saturday morning.

Sgt. Jonathan Smith told WDRB officers responded to the 3900 block of Shelbyville Road, near Breckenridge Lane, around 12:15 a.m.

Police say a 20-year-old woman was crossing the street near the Tin Roof bar when she was hit. She was taken to U of L Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. At last check Saturday night, she was stable.

In a news conference Saturday evening, St. Matthews Police said they arrested 26-year-old Kevin Dean after his father called police when he saw damage to the vehicle.

Dean is charged with two counts of wanton endangerment, assault and leaving the scene of an accident.

Officers can't say if alcohol was a factor or not. Dean is expected to appear in arraignment court Monday morning.

The investigation is ongoing.
