LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Students got in some summer fun Friday before hitting the books next week.
Students and their parents at Price Elementary in the Newburg neighborhood celebrated the start of the new year with a back-to-school bash. It felt more like a carnival, though, with a dunk tank, games, food, a petting zoo and even pony rides.
Price Elementary Principal Shuvon Ray said the Friday night fun helps to calm some of those first-day-of-school jitters.
"They are more familiar with the faces that are in the building, and on the first day of school, we have fewer crying faces and happier students who know where to go at in the building," Ray said.
Again, all JCPS students head back to school Aug. 15.
