LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- All lanes of Interstate 71 southbound reopened Friday afternoon after a crash involving at least three semis.
The lanes re-opened at approximately 1:45 p.m., hours earlier than originally anticipated.
Oldham County Police dispatch said the accident happened about 9:25 a.m. Friday near the 16 mile marker, just north of the rest area.
One of the semi drivers was injured and was taken to the hospital by medical helicopter. The extent of the driver's injuries are not known.
A semi with a tanker was among the vehicles involved, but dispatch says it was not leaking.
WDRB's crew drove past the crash and captured cell phone video of the wreckage. The video showed multiple cars and trucks with damage and an engine on the roadway.
Northbound lanes of Interstate 71 were not impacted.
