UPDATE: Suspect shot and killed by LMPD officer Wednesday night identified

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - The Coroner's office has identified the man shot and killed by LMPD Wednesday night in the Shawnee neighborhood.

42-year-old Isaac Jackson died Wednesday night at University of Louisville Hospital from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police were called to North 42nd Street about 10:00 p.m. about trouble inside a home. When officers arrived, family members told police about a disturbance happening inside the house.

Officers went inside the house and encountered Jackson, according to Conrad. LMPD says Jackson was armed with multiple knives.

At one point, an LMPD officer was injured with one of the knives. After the officer was injured, another officer on scene shot Jackson, eventually killing him.

Both the injured officer and Jackson were taken to University Hospital, where Jackson died.

The injured officer is being treated for minor injuries.

Chief Steve Conrad says the department will release body camera footage and information about the officers, including their personnel files and photos, at a news conference Thursday.
