Wings for Kids raises funds for Norton Children's Hospital

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's not a bird, it's a plane! And it's bringing smiles to children's faces.

The Wings for Kids Model Airshow kicked off on Saturday, all to benefit Norton Children's Hospital.

The cost is $5 for individuals or $10 per car. Proceeds benefit Norton Children's Hospital.

Over the last 17 years, the River City Radio Controllers has raised $280,000. This year's goal is $40,000 to coincide with the 40th celebration of the Hospital's Air Transport Team.

WDRB Photojournalist Dixon Fletcher takes us to the airfield for the 18th annual event, which you can watch in the video player above.

If you missed the action on Saturday, the show continues Sunday at the Bill Fluke Airfield at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
