LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 3-year-old boy shot himself in the face Wednesday evening Russell neighborhood.
LMPD said it happened around 5:30 p.m.in the 1200 block of Liberty Court at the Beecher Terrace Apartment Complex. Officers arrived on scene to find the boy with a "graze wound" to the face. He was transported to Norton Children's Hospital, where LMPD Spokesman Dwight Mitchell said he was conscious and alert and is expected to be OK.
The boy's family said he's the youngest of five children, and they're asking for prayers.
"We are really going through it, and we need you all's prayers right about now," said Toyquan Sykes, the boy's aunt. "Just pray for us please."
Mitchell added that the shooting "appears to be self inflicted."
"It's very shocking," Sykes said. "They don't really know what's going on or whose guns it was in the house."
The LMPD Major Crimes Unit is investigating the case.
