POV | Bill Lamb

There are a few things on my mind today.

I wonder if it would be necessary to increase tolls on the bridges if RiverLink was a little better at collecting from those out-of-staters just passing through. I have heard so many stories of people who never got a bill, or got it months after they crossed the bridge. I also wonder if RiverLink could collect more efficiently if they had anything resembling customer service.

You could never run a business like that, so why isn't RiverLink run like a business?

I'm glad Jonathan Hardin, the former LMPD and school resource officer, was found not guilty on all charges of assaulting a 13-year-old boy at Olmsted Academy North. That little punk blind-sided Hardin, knocked him to the ground, then taunted him until Hardin subdued him. He reacted the way many of us would have.

Hardin is the one who could have been hurt, but nobody seemed worried about that. I'm happy for Mr. Hardin and I hope the kid learned some manners.

I got a tour of the Jefferson County Jail last week thanks to Director Mark Bolton. I never realized what a huge operation that is. It is the biggest detox facility, biggest mental health facility, and biggest food provider in the region. As big as it is, it is also terribly antiquated and overcrowded. It was a real eye-opener.

I'm Bill Lamb and that's my Point of View.
