Here are a few random thoughts.
On Tuesday, I said it just didn’t feel right that Bobby Petrino is walking away with $14 million after the disaster he left behind. I still feel that way, but just to be clear, I wouldn’t refuse it and neither would you. It’s just a shame that anyone can benefit so richly for failing, and contributing nothing going forward, when so many college students and their parents are struggling to pay tuition. I just wish there had been a clause in his contract to protect the university in the event of a total failure.
Another random thought. A couple weeks ago I made an obvious comment about how embarrassingly bad downtown Louisville streets are. So naturally, they’ve gotten worse since! I just wish I had been the guy who sold those orange traffic cones to the city. I would be a rich, rich man!
Final random thought. If you feel moved to help the Red Cross help those displaced in the devastating California fires, remember, 91 cents of every dollar you donate goes to help victims.
The Red Cross’s overhead is about the lowest of any charitable organization you could give to. They are always there wherever a disaster strikes, providing food, shelter, and comfort to those who have lost their homes. They can only do that through the generosity of people like you.
I’m Bill Lamb, and that’s my Point of View.
