POV | Bill Lamb

We have become so rude to each other. I don't know if we've picked up on this from our politicians, or if they are feeding off us.

When I look at Facebook posts, and I really try not to, it seems that 75 percent of the comments are just rude or nasty.

Maybe people think snarky comments will paint them as smart and informed. Maybe they feel empowered by not taking crap from anybody. I don't know what they're thinking, but I do know that most of them sound very unhappy.

We are just so offended by everything. I made a comment the other day about "our Country." I actually had someone write me, anonymously of course, to say, "Native American's are the original peoples of the United States. Use of the words 'our country' by a Caucasian is an insult." People seem to wake up in the morning these days wondering what will offend them today, hoping something does.

We're so busy fighting with each other, our enemies must love it. United States? We no longer seem to be United by anything.

We The People seem splintered into a hundred thousand factions. I believe we can be better than this, more civil to each other, but the evidence is starting to shake those beliefs.

What are your thoughts on civility, or our lack of it. Call and tell us.

I'm Bill Lamb and that's my Point of View.
