Good Cheer

Expected Kentucky Oaks favorite Good Cheer trains at Churchill Downs on April 23, 2025.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Godolphin Racing’s Good Cheer has earned everything but a Grade 1. The talented filly is unbeaten in six starts for trainer Brad Cox, and will break from the No. 10 post as a heavy 6-5 morning line favorite in the $1.25 million Kentucky Oaks.

Friday’s Grade 1 test at Churchill Downs will be her chance, after prepping with wins in the Grade 2 Rachel Alexandra and Grade 2 Fair Grounds Oaks. Only one other filly, La Cara, carries single digit odds, at 6-1.

“She’s doing fantastic,” Cox said after her work earlier this week. “Very steady, listens to her rider. She’s 6-for-6 at this point and hope she can keep it going.”

Cox downplayed any pressure he faces in having an unbeaten Oaks favorite.

“Yeah, there's a little bit of out of pressure, I think, when they're undefeated, and they keep showing up every time,” Cox said. “You hope everything goes right for her. But she's really doing well and she’s put us in a great position, put herself in a great position. And I'm excited about giving her an opportunity at a Grade 1, because I feel like she's that type.”
