LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) -- A couple in New York discovered what they thought was a 'cable box' was actually a stolen safe full of gold and jewelry.
Maria and Matthew Emanuel were having some trees planted in their backyard to help keep deer away.
When the tree company wanted to move what they all thought was a cable box, they found out it was not full of wires.
Inside the safe was $52,000 worth of gold, jade, and diamonds and a paper inside with an address on their block.
The Emanuel's asked homeowners at that address if they had ever been robbed. Turns out they had. New York Police confirmed that the safe was stolen in 2011 and that $52,000 worth of property was reported missing.
The couple returned everything to the theft victims.
