LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- On June 23, 2012 area Perry County Law Enforcement authorities were notified of a possible missing male subject identified as 20-year-old Derrick S. Sandage.
Mr. Sandage was residing in Cannelton Indiana. Cannelton Police Department filed a missing persons report. Authorities learned Mr. Sandage was last seen on the river bank in between Cannelton and Tell City.
A search was conducted on and along the Ohio River and the river bank's edge. Members of the Tell City Police Department, Perry County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police, Indiana Conservation Officers, Cannelton Police Department and members of Perry County Rescue Squad conducted this search until late in the evening on June 23, 2012.
Indiana Conservation Officer's used their side scan sonar device to search the river's bottom. Indiana State Police K-9 was used to search land area around the river.
On June 24, 2012 in the early morning hours, Indiana Conservation Officers along with assistance from the Tell City Police Department, Indiana State Police and the Perry County Rescue Squad continued their search on the Ohio River near Mr. Sandage's last sighting.
Shortly after 8 a.m. officers located the deceased body of a male subject in the Ohio River. This male victim has been identified as Derrick Sandage. The Perry County Coroner's Officer has been notified and has assisted in this investigation.
