Louisville's Katie George competes in Miss USA pageant Sunday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville's Katie George competes in the Miss USA pageant on Sunday night.
The U of L volleyball captain has already walked the runway in both the evening gown and swimsuit preliminaries. She's hoping to make the cut for the top 15, which gives the public a chance to show support on twitter.
George won Miss Kentucky USA earlier this year and has been working with trainers and stylists to get ready. She was on WDRB in the Morning a few weeks ago to show the morning team how to strut their stuff. But she was doing it on seven inch stilettos!
George is in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the competition. She is encouraging people to support her on twitter. She posted on social media that there is a "saving" portion of the pageant this year. So the public can voice their support on twitter to sway the results. Just use the state's name and the hash tag ?#SaveTheQueen. For example, Kentucky #SaveTheQueen. Each twitter account can vote ten times.
The Miss USA 2015 pageant has faced the loss of hosts, sponsors and broadcast rights following remarks by pageant owner Donald Trump. Many of those associated with the show pulled out following insensitive remarks about Mexico and immigrants.
