KSP: One dead in Columbia, Ky. house fire, explosion
State Police spokesperson Trooper Billy Gregory said one person is dead in the fire and there are "perhaps others unaccounted for."
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police say a house was engulfed in flames in Adair County, Kentucky, Tuesday afternoon.
The house on Coomer Road is just outside the city limits of Columbia.
KSP says one person is confirmed dead and three others "have not been accounted for at this time."
Police said they received a call of an explosion around 2:30 p.m. Central time, which led to the house fire.
KSP arson investigators have not yet determined a cause of the explosion.
"There is a gas well on the property but we don't have any information that would lead us to believe that there was something connected to that that led to the explosion," said Trooper Billy Gregory.
Police said they would likely be on scene overnight.
