Former New Albany business owner accused of hiring someone to kill ex-boyfriend
Roane County police say they arrested 29-year-old Laura Buckingham Wednesday for attempted murder.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police in Roane County, Tenn. say they arrested 29-year-old Laura Buckingham Wednesday on a charge of attempted murder.
Buckingham is the former owner of Bread and Breakfast in New Albany.
According to the warrant, Buckingham hired and paid another person to kill Bradley Sutherland, her former boyfriend and the father of her 3-year-old son. Sutherland lives in Indiana.
The couple was sharing custody of their child. Police say Buckingham recently moved to Tennessee and has been driving to the Louisville area every Sunday for her son.
LMPD's homicide unit was notified about Buckingham's plan to have her ex-boyfriend killed. Sutherland was contacted, and he is now working with the Roane County Sheriff's office in their ongoing investigation.
Police say the couple's son is now back in Indiana with Sutherland.
Buckingham is being held on a $150,000 bond.
